Dane's Anomaly's

So Dane has some real crazy irregularities, poor guy. It's no wonder that he isn't loving life here on earth so much. He was born with all but one, the belly button was something that was just added to the pile of problems.

On his upper lip on the right side you will see a little blue dot. That is called a hemangioma. It is more common in twins. He was born with it and it will get bigger until he hits 6 months to a year old. From that point on it will slowly go away for the next 3 years. By the time he is 4 it should be gone. The Dr freaked me out when he said "The only time we worry about these is when they get so big that he can't breath out of his nose." "Come again?" Let's pray it doesn't get THAT big.

This is Danes Herniated Belly Button. It's huge, so sad. I guess it happens with preemies a lot. IT just a little hole, the size of the tip of my finger, in his abdomen wall. Belly fluids is what is in it now. You can push it back inn and hear all the fluids go back into his belly but it won't stay there. This should go away on it's own in the first year of life but if it doesn't or if it gets any bigger then they will have to do surgery. Let's pray it doesn't come to that.

I never watch videos on blogs but you have to watch this, it is so WEIRD! This has some big medical name that I can't remember but the short name for it is a Fish Hook Tubular. Crazy ha. It is a hole in his neck that attaches to his throat so every time he swallows it lifts up. At some point it will get infected and they will have to remove it. Hopefully this happens before he goes to school and the kids say "What's wrong with you neck Dane?" If it doesn't I'm sure we can find a way for him to make all the kids jealous that they don't have one, lol:) I guess these are quite common even though I have never seen one.

Our little Dane is SOOOOOO dang cute, sweet, edible, and delicious when he is his happy self. When he smiles it's always with his mouth wide open. His little anomaly's make him that much more lovable. None of them are supposed to cause him any pain so we all sleep better at night knowing that.

So if you have any experience with any of these let me know and tell me how it turned out for the sorry victim.

Wow he is getting so big already! I really hope the one above his lip doesn't get so big it makes it hard to breath, poor little guy. My second boy had a herniated belly button. It use to bother me when I couldn't hide it under his cloths. After a while I learned how common that is. His was long and thin, kindof looked like a finger. I would push it in all the time hoping it would go down. When he was about a year old it started to go away. He never needed surgery and now has a perfectly normal belly button.

Your twins are the most adorable things ever! I love their names so much. Cute, cute. Just like their mom.

My second and third kids both had herniated belly buttons. The older of the 2 had theirs fix itself. The younger is probably going to have to have surgery to have it fixed, since she's 6 and it's still hasn't gone away. It doesn't seem to bother her at all and bonus! forced modesty. No belly shirts or bikini's! ;-) Kidding... mostly.

Lindsey,

I'm so proud of you! It looks like you are doing such an amazing job with your three little ones. I knew you'd be one of those super mom's to succeed with flying colors.

My brother Garrett has a little girl (my niece Leah) that had a herniated belly button. It wasn't going away and was starting to bother her (she just turned four) and so they did surgery a few weeks ago. It went great- she was feeling great in absolutely no time and healed so quickly. It ended up not being a big deal at all. So, if it does come down to that, just know that it will be fine.

You have beautiful children!

Send me an e-mail if you get a chance- jonreams@yahoo.com.

Love ya!

I love him love him love him. I love all his abnormalities and his adorableness. :) There is actually a little boy in my ward I noticed on Sunday who has that same lip thing. I think he is about 2 years old or older. I will have to ask his parents about it

You're right Lindsey. Those things just make him all the more lovable. I always tell myself that my kids came to my home for certain reasons. There's no doubt Dane came to you because he needed you as his mama. You're doing fantastic and have a wonderful, hilarious attitude. I love it.

What a sweet boy! I can't believe that he is so big already! When you are home, call me so I can come love on those two babies of yours! I'm sad that you're not going to be at our bunko night this month!

They each just make him more unique and more lovable. My cousin's little boy has a cleft palette and she said that part of her didn't want to get it fixed because she just loved him so much like he was born. I love that you accept Dane with all his anomalies. The word verification is "lompie" and it kind of just sounds like a good name for an anomaly.

I'm stalking you again! I can't keep myself away from the cute pics of your twins! Anyways my cousins kid has an hemangioma on his forehead. It hasn't been a big deal at all. It never hurts him, his bro and sisters can touch with no problems. I'm sure you're doing a great job!!
